Very disappointed by the food. Bar menu seemed to be very limited so we had to use restaurant for dinner. Restaurant menu also very limited and same menu for lunch next day. Coffee machine broken. Also a shame hotel being used as ambulance park.

Room & bathroom cleanliness very good. Breakfast satisfactory, but did not appreciate cup of tea being snatched from table before it was emptied.
Room 505 should be a single, not a double. Very small, liimited space between bed & window. No chaiir/s & had to sit on bed to watch tv. Guests to this part of hotel should have luggage delivered to room, due to distance from Reception & stairs.

Refurbished areas of the hotel were excellent and the food good quality.
Bedroom was acceptable if a little outdated. The main problem was the control of the shower which was unacceptable and resulted in either freezing or scalding temperatures.. A hot evening and the radiators were on in the restaurant!

The receptionist and staff were generally doing their best but too few of them, especially at breakfast which was a fiasco.
The hotel is being run down, sadly. I stayed here some years ago and it was then a delight and very comfortable with fresh and contemporary soft furnishings and ultra clean bathrooms. It now needs updating urgently. I cannot recommend at these prices!

The Mill Hotel is a delightful hotel which we have stayed in before as a family. It has a beautiful location, lovely rooms and friendly service. Unfortunately, we didn\'t stay there because CENTRAL RESERVATIONS failed to make the booking!!!
CENTRAL RESERVATIONS took our deposit on 27th January, confirmed our booking, and yet when we arrived at the hotel they had no record of it. We were eventually found alternative accommodation at higher cost. They have not responded to our emails!!

Positive greeting at the hotel, the check-in process didn't feel at all rushed. The room was a great size and bed/television/provisions all great. Overall we were happy with the experience.
Disorganised breakfast service and the coffee is very poor. Bar staff came across very cold, not a friendly vibe. The staff generally seemed stressed. The shower was awful, barely worth using.

Our room(4) needs blinds or nets. Stair carpet very dirty. Disappointed upon paying bill to have to mention that previoulsy paid deposit had not been deducted from final invoice. Easy for guest to miss-fervantly hope it wasn't intentional.

Very good service in the bar for our evening meal. The member of staff on reception who sorted our bill out was very efficient.
Very slow service at breakfast for drinks. No lift in the hotel which has many flights of stairs!!!!! One member of staff insisting what the computor said was correct even though we were being over charged. It took someone else to sort it out for us!

Bar and restaurant staff were excellent. Additional negative comments: Told on arrival that we had been upgraded but suspect we were moved to accommodate someone else, particularly as the price booked online was more than we paid.
Rate i paid was cheaper than booked online but only found out on check out, so spent 24 hours thinking it was poor value for money. No proper shower in the room was very disappointing. 10th stay at the mill and 501 was definitely the worst room.

Our room was adequate, cllean and comfortable bed, we had two windows, one looked over the meadows, the other was obscured by some scaffolding and wood,, evening meal was pleasant but felt that the specials board could have had more options
Adnams was off on a Saturday night which my husband was disappointed about, felt the outside terrace area adjacent to the bar area could be better considering the views offered, ie grass kept neat and tidy, however we would stay again

The setting is brilliant.
The 'standard' room was very standard and in desperate need of modernisation. However, it was evident from the outside of the building that there was some work taking place so they may get around to doing up the rooms in the future.

you only had one member of staff serving breakfast in the morning so not only did it take a long time, but we didn't get any toast or tea/coffee that we ordered. Very disapointing.

The reception staff were brilliant, really friendly and helpful.

Reception staff very accommodating when we wanted to use the secure garage for bike storage and when we wanted to check out late.
A real shame that this hotel has ended up in the state it is.It has such potential as it's a fabulous location and a lovely buidling.However it is dirty,needs decorating and maintening both internally and externally.

You need more blankets on the beds. Both my mother & I were cold. Another suggestion might be to ask if guests are elderly. If yes, then avoid putting them on the top floor. My mother is almost 87.

Fod was really excellant and represented real value for money. Would recommend to friends (subject to comment below) and would consider a return visit. Setting is lovely so please clean windows,inside and out so both views can be fully appreciated!
Room could have been cleaner - parts were very dusty and cleaning seemed to have been done at eye level! Decor could use a refurb and spruce up.When we pulled down our bag from the top of the wardrobe the dust that came with it was dreadful.

Hotel was in a beautiful position, couldn't fault anything. Views were outstanding. Room was immaculate, bathroom too. Would definitely return.
Had meal on our anniversary evening (42nd) although we enjoyed the meal, thought the drinks were very overcharged, was an o.k wine at exorbitant prices!!! Everyone is now aware of the true price of wine, especially when bought in bulk by hotels!!!

As somebody who does not like spiders, there were 2 in the bathroom on the wall and one in the bedroom, my sister in the room next door had a couple in her room too. Downstairs in the guest toilets there was also one on the wall, this did put me off!

I think we should have been informed at the time of booking that our room would be on third floor and no lift. The bin in our bathroom had not been emptied after the previous occupants.

The bath shower was not functioning properly. Hot water continually running through tap although shower was switched on. Danger of scolding feet. Exterior of hotel decoration is looking very "tired" and grubby. Elevated patio by room 5 was dirty.

Idyllic surroundings and lovely scenery made for a very restful and pleasant stay.
The food was reasonable but a little pricey.The menu in the resturant needed a little more variety and did not include a roast meal like lamb or beef with all the trimmings which would have been nice.

lovely location, great potential. Room 9 was clean and comfortable although the bed was not long enough for my husband to sleep in & the shower had no hot water. Moved to room 51 which we thought was a lovely room although could do with some diy
the hotel is let down by the negative attitude and lack of customer service by some of the staff.The head waitress at breakfast was rude and impolite to a number of guests. Room 51 had thick limescale on the taps and hadn't been cleaned under the bed.

when I informed the staff of the problem I was relocated with no fuss at all. The replacement room I was given was perfectly adequate.
my first room had undergone a redecoration and was not really fit for purpose in that TV did not work and the radiator could not be governed, it was on full and there was no valve cap to turn it down. The windows would not open easily.

I enjoyed the stay and a lovely location on the croft.
Unfortunatly on the first night of our stay we had a meal in the restuarant but found it poor value for money, the duck dish was very small for the price, also the drinks was very expensive in the bar, apart from the food and prices i liked the mill .

Generally a Good hotel, large rooms were nice, and one of the most comfortable beds found in a hotel. Room had very nice view of river and water meadow and wildlife.

Beautiful historic building and great location. Our room had a lovely view of the river and meadows.
The bedspread was frayed and had holes in it. It was January and snowy outside yet our bedroom only had one blanket on the bed, which meant that even with the heating on we were cold at night.

We were disappointed with the lack of Christmas atmosphere. None of the log fires were working and the hotel was packed with Christmas parties/ lunches. The hotel seemed more geared too these events than the guests who were staying there.

Really don\'t understand why you can\'t provide de-caff ground coffee.It is easily stored, frozen, in small quantities. To say there is not enough demand is a cop out. If it were on the menu people would choose it. Be brave, try it!

Character building in a very pleasant setting convenient for Sudbury Town and rural walks. Clean, light and spacious dining facilities, very good menu range, including \'home made\' food, all reasonably priced. Functional and comfortable accommodation.
Some decor, particularly outside, detracted from the overall appearance.
